Psalm 73:1-3, 15-28

When we were children we may have been afraid of the dark, but when our father or mother was with us we were unafraid. As adults there are times when we are still afraid, but the psalmist gives us reassurance: “My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge” (Psalm 62:7).

When we draw near to God, He draws closer to us. He sustains us with His protection. He is our protector, our rock, our salvation and our refuge. God cares for us as His children.

For those who may not have had a good experience with an earthly father it may be difficult to relate to the concept of such a caring heavenly Father. Nevertheless, He cares for you and loves you more than any words can ever explain. God cared enough about you–and everyone else–that He sent His only begotten Son to die the cruelest death of all on the cross to redeem and protect you from the power of sin. “For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him” (Psalm 103:11).
