Our God Hears Us
August 7th, 2014
Genesis 21:1-21
As a parent, hearing my daughter cry when she came home from fifth grade, I experienced a desperate pain. The little girls who had been her friends and playmates since kindergarten had turned into bullying classmates. The confusion and betrayal my daughter felt weighed on me until I decided to home-school her sixth grade year. All summer we planned, prepared, and bought curriculum. We consistently prayed that God would lead and direct us.
A few days before her grade school would resume, she announced that God had told her to return to public school. I wasn’t about to argue with God. I let her attend the first day and she came bouncing home, ecstatic with good news. “I know why God sent me back to school,” she bubbled. “There’s a new boy. The boys treat him just like the girls treat me. I am supposed to be his friend.” They were best friends for the next three years.
When we cry “Injustice!” to God, He hears and responds, bringing justice in a personal way. He will give us victory.
