John 4:16-26

Visiting the Garden Tomb in Jerusalem is a deeply spiritual experience. Carla peeked into the place where Jesus had been laid and was moved by the fact that the tomb is empty. At the same time visiting Lenin’s Tomb in Red Square is an equally spiritual experience, but for a different reason. They were led in gloomy darkness into the underground recesses of the tomb, told to be silent and keep moving. They walked past the lifeless body of a man who left this earth long ago. As Carla exited the tomb into the bright sunlight of a Moscow winter day her heart began to sing, “I serve a risen Savior; He’s in the world today!” She was struck by the fact that she doesn’t have to go anywhere in particular to worship her Jesus! She doesn’t have to make a pilgrimage to Jerusalem, nor does she have to look at a dead body. Jesus is alive and has sent us His Holy Spirit so that we can worship Him any and everywhere. We must not seek out a location, but must daily step into the presence of God through the power of the Holy Spirit and worship Him.
