Waiting
August 20th, 2013
Hosea 11:12-12:14
The Christian singer John Waller sings a song called “While I’m Waiting.” It was one of the songs on the soundtrack for the movie “Fireproof.” Waiting, even on God, can be difficult, even painful. “Return,” “maintain,” and “wait” are God’s commands to His wandering, wavering, and impatient people.
I was in the grocery store one Friday morning and the people ahead of me in line had their carts stacked high with groceries, so instead of waiting, I went to a shorter line.
Waiting is not always easy. We want things to happen right now. We live in a day and age of advanced computer technology, high-speed Internet, and fast food. Parents eagerly anticipate the birth of their child after waiting nine months. Teenagers also eagerly wait for the day they turn 16 so they can get their driver’s license.
Israel waited a long time for the Messiah, the Promised One. We are called to wait on the Lord. As we spend time with God and in His Word, He will help us to have the patience we need.

”As we spend time with God and in His Word, He will help us to have the patience we need.”
Along with patience, we need faith (which He also supplies when we “use”). Mark 4:24.
