Hosea 11:1-11

We have all experienced broken relationships. We have turned away from each other as the relationship has broken down. We grieve as we realize that the relationship we once had with that person no longer exists. We look for ways to build that relationship back up again. Sometimes that can happen and sometimes that relationship is never restored.

In Hosea chapter 11, we find that God is seeking to have that close relationship with His people, Israel. They have turned their backs on Him and have rejected Him. But God does not just throw them away or give up on them. He could have just wiped them out for their sinfulness and disobedience toward Him but instead He pleads with them to come back to Him.

God desires a restored relationship with each of us. He gave His only Son, Jesus, to be a sacrifice for our sins and through that sacrifice a bridge was built to close the chasm between humanity and God.

God is calling us back to that renewed relationship with Him.

“We have turned away from each other as the relationship has broken down.”

Sad to say, but many find it easier to start a new relationship with another (only to locate that new person isn’t perfect either).

However, the One True God “is” perfect. We can turn away, but we are only hurting ourselves.

Jesus is our Savior of the past, present and future, but it takes a relationship with Him.
