He Is Light and Darkness

Hosea 9:1-9
These were very dark days for Israel. Imagine being a lone prophet bringing the word of the Lord in such terrible times. Worse was to come. Punishment was promised because they had turned to idols. They were paying a heavy price for turning their back on God. However, He is compassionate. When people turn to Him, there is forgiveness offering a new start.
Psalm 33:18-19 speak of hope and assurance. Will God turn His back on those who repent? Absolutely not! He watches those who are facing difficult times and will be at hand to deliver them from death and kept alive in famine.
In my second pastorate, we were very poor. People were raising money for a new church. Uniforms were needed for two of our daughters commencing high school. I had an old car which ran out of gasoline within three days of receiving my weekly salary. At Christmas we had no money for a turkey. We prayed for God’s help. He provided money for the uniforms. We ended up with two turkeys and presented one to another needy pastor. God will always provide.
