Galatians 2:11-21

Viewing life through rose-colored glasses can create a sense of unrealistic optimism; a “peace at any price” motto. This concept was adapted for chickens. There is a pecking order that establishes hierarchy within the flock. Once the dominant chicken recognizes blood, it will peck its contender to death. To calm this aggressive behavior, in the early 1900s, tiny rose colored eye glasses were designed for chickens and peace was established in the hen house.*

Paul, however, courageously confronts Peter whose “rosy, peace at any price” outlook is compromising God’s grace. Even after experiencing God’s free salvation, Peter was still working to earn it. Through Christ alone, our sins are forgiven and we are free from the yoke that chokes! Warren Wiersbe in his book, Be Free, explains, “Returning to the law nullifies the cross. Law says DO! Grace says DONE!”** Paul was saved by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ who declared from the cross, “It is finished!” (John 19:30). We join him in praising our Lord and Savior for this Glorious Freedom!

“Paul, however, courageously confronts Peter whose “rosy, peace at any price” outlook is compromising God’s Grace.”

Please forgive my ignorance, but please site the scripture references that support Peter’s “rosy, peace at any price outlook” from which the above statement is confirmed, or, even deducted?

    Got it!

Since Peter was going to draw “blood” by going against the “grain,” he denied the “truth” for “fear” of being pecked to death.

There is a scripture that tells us to keep the peace if possible (Romans 12:18); thus I understand that he was showing them that he, too, is a sinner, but that didn’t make it right.

IF Paul wrote Romans, maybe he learned that “keeping the peace” is also important, IF we admit we’re sinners also. (???)

Some strongly believe, Peter was trying to bring peace, and protect the Christian Jews in Jerusalem, that were being killed by the Jews, as Paul had done. The,Lord, in Matthew 19, gave instructions how to deal with a brother in a sin, and Paul himself, later in his letters gave the same instructions. It was not the way he handled it in Peters sin.
