Called To Truth
April 17th, 2013
Genesis 3:1-7
The soul of the perfect man was created so that his will, mind and emotions, and physical senses worked in perfect harmony to obey God, choose truth, and enjoy the feelings of doing right. The will, mind, and emotions acted in a hierarchical pattern with the will choosing to obey, the mind reasoning the truth serving the will, the emotions serving the mind.
When the serpent tempted Eve, he challenged the truth of God. By her senses Eve evaluated the fruit, not the truth. The desire of her eyes and the emotional excitement of acquired wisdom won her over to disobey God.
God’s original design is the will ruling over the mind, the mind ruling over the emotions and senses. The will chooses to obey God; the mind reasons God’s truth that supports our choice to obey; the emotions joy in the fullness of God. In holiness we are called to the original design.

“The soul of the perfect man was created so that his will, mind and emotions, worked in perfect harmony to obey God.”
His individual will apparently was not in harmony with his mind and emotions since he disobeyed (supporting our “freedom of choice”)..
God’s penalty for Adam’s disobedience was death in Genesis 2:17 (corresponding with the “wages of sin” in Romans 6:23). The King James Version reads that death would happen within that very day. However, Adam did not die within the next 24-hour day. Thus, many discount the truth of the Bible since Adam continued to live 930 years.
God’s timing is explained (much later in the scriptures) as a day with God is like a 1,000 years with man — Psalm 90:4 and reconfirmed in 1 Peter 3:8). Adam lived 930 years according to Genesis 5:5.
God does not lie (Hebrews 6:18).

1 Peter 3:8 was mistyped, it should be 2 Peter 3:8.
