Genesis 2:4-17

Adam was created the perfect man. He was holy, righteous, and pure. He knew no sin. He had not experienced the grief of loss and death. Think for a moment of all the things you would have never experienced if you lived in a sinless, perfect world. God had created a garden, the perfect place to live and placed in it the perfectly made man. God’s desire for the man was to live in that place in holiness; thus, he put a boundary around the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. In order to live the holy life man did not need to know evil. “I want you to be wise about what is good, and innocent about what is evil” (Rom. 16:19b).

With that boundary around that tree God established his nature of holiness and invited Adam to live holiness in relationship with him. God continues to call men and women to live a life of holiness. That is his standard. Why? It is only through holiness that we can have an intimate relationship with Holy God.

“I want you to be wise about what is good, and innocent about what is evil” (Rom. 16:19b).

Innocense is never “experiencing or having evil thoughts”.

Evil entered this world when satan tempted Eve in the garden of Eden. Therefore, with the failure of mankind being able to live in the place of Holiness, God gave us HIS Son through which we can obtain Holiness.

A relationship with HIS Son (through which we have access to the power of the Holy Spirit) offers us the ability to renew our mind back to the stage of impure thoughts..

Evil entered into this world when satan tempted Eve (John 8:44). However, satan had to have God’s permission to tempt Adam (refer to Job 1:8).

Sin entered in to this world with Adam’s “disobedience” (Romans 5:19).

However, with what satan meant as our harm, God can use for our good (Genesis 50:20),
