Don’t Waste Your Blessings
February 25th, 2013
John 6:1-15
“What are we going to do with all this food?” I looked at the large counter stacked high with food left over from the community dinner. There had been a tremendous response to the request for donated food, and many did not want their food back. What were we to do? “We can’t just throw it away!”
I stood there for a moment as an idea formed in my mind. Nearby was a state youth home which typically housed 25 or 30 hungry boys. “I believe I know where we can take some,” I said, and quickly shared my idea.
Someone else spoke up, “We could make up plates for the police and fire personnel who are on duty. I will give them a call and see how many are there today.”
“The Smiths never get out anymore. I could fix up some of the food to take over to them,” someone else shared. Others began to think of who they might bless with a meal, as I filled four large boxes to take to the youth home.
When I returned the kitchen was clean and the counter was empty. God doesn’t give us blessings to waste. When we share them with others the miracle continues.
