2 Corinthians 5:1—6:2

It was Gene’s last night to teach Christian Life and Witness class for Franklin Graham’s Charlottesville, Virginia, crusade. There was no introduction, so Gene began to teach. After a few minutes he noticed a young Korean woman a few rows back begin to weep. He wondered what was wrong. Afterward, she came to Gene’s wife and said, “I have a message for pastor from God.” How did she know he had been a pastor? Gene’s wife said, “Could you share it with me?”

She said, “A few weeks ago, God distinctly gave 2 Corinthians 5:20 to me, telling me he wanted me to share it with someone. He would tell me who and when. As pastor [that title again!] began to teach, God told me. ‘This is the man. Tell him!’” Excitedly, Gene’s wife told her, “You must share this with my husband.” And she did.

What a blessing! Since Gene’s retirement as pastor, he had struggled with some depression, wondering who he was. Now he knew. He was an ambassador for the Lord! The burden lifted. God was not finished with him. Even to our final breath he will use us as his emissaries to reconcile lives to him.
