A Lifetime In God’s Favor

Psalm 30:1-12
“I don’t love you–not sure I ever did. I’ve met the love of my life. I am leaving you!” Then her first husband turned and walked away. Tears streamed down her face as she watched the red truck pull out of the driveway.
Into the night she continued to weep incessant tears of anguish, fear, and despair. Finally around 3:00 AM she cried out, “Lord! This is too hard. I can’t do this! Would you take me to heaven?” She gave him about 10 minutes. Then she reached for my Bible that fell open to Isaiah 54:5-6: “‘For your Maker is your husband–the LORD Almighty is his name–the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; he is called the God of all the earth. The LORD will call you back as if you were a wife deserted and distressed in spirit–a wife who married young, only to be rejected,’ says your God.”
Her anguish fell away. She leapt to my feet and marched through the house for hours communing with her divine Husband! He had truly removed the sackcloth of despair and clothed her with joy!
