Overflowing With Thankfulness
January 17th, 2013
2 Corinthians 4:7-18
How will we feel when Jesus pronounces, “Well done, good and faithful servant! . . . Come . . . share your master’s happiness” (Matt. 25:21b)? It’s hard to imagine the exuberance we will feel!
“I wish someone would prepare a place for me!” I grumbled as I worked, getting ready to move. Once again we were scheduled to move our family to another state. It seemed all we ever did was “fix up” a home, then move, leaving the place for someone else to enjoy.
In the midst of my self-pity, I suddenly heard a voice lovingly speak to me, “Someone is preparing a place for you.” My heavenly Father was taking time to share his plans with me. I was so embarrassed and sorry I had complained.
No matter how difficult this life becomes, God instructs us to fix our eyes on him, “not on what is seen, but on what is unseen . . . [the] eternal” (2 Cor. 4:18). You see, someday, in his presence, the cares of this life will seem so small and insignificant.
Today, let’s look beyond ourselves, trust God, and help others find his grace. Then our thankfulness will overflow.
