Where Do You Choose To Live?

Matthew 7:21-29

My friend called to say, “Pastor, the river is about to top the levy. Can you help me move our furniture to the second floor?” I quickly dropped what I was doing and helped secure the home.

My friend felt confident when he bought his house. Heavy floods were only supposed to occur every hundred years or so. Unfortunately, during the 10 years I served in that town, his home was threatened by flood three different times. No one wants to buy that house now, because they know it’s only a matter of time before it is destroyed.

My friend didn’t think he was “foolish” when he first bought the house. Many people who think of themselves as “Christians” don’t feel foolish when they center their lives on things that have nothing to do with God. Unfortunately, they don’t realize how vulnerable they are to destruction. Jesus said, “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven” (7:21).

Where are you building your spiritual home? Is it safe from disaster? If not, choose today to seek God and start building as he directs.

In building any earthly home, it’s “location, location, location.”

We begin to build in the “heart” by belief in Jesus as God’s Son (John
3:16)(Roman’s 10:9), in the “mind” by study of HIS Word (Romans 12:2), and in the “soul” by practice of His teachings. (Matthew 7:24).
