Acts 18:1-17
After God gives us a vision of what comes next, we must keep the vision fresh by constantly coming back to him to renew our sight. This is the hardest part of the journey–keeping the vision fresh in our minds and hearts. His vision inspires us forward and fuels our conviction that this is where we go from here; but if we do not renew that vision daily, if we let it fade, then convictions wither and doubt seeps in. Fear follows, quickly undermining belief and destroying faith until the vision is obliterated.
Paul faced disappointment after disappointment in his missionary journeys and probably struggled with loneliness and fear of failure (1 Cor. 16:17-18; Acts 18:5-6), but he never stopped preaching the gospel. His vision in Acts 18:10 echoes Jesus’ promise to the disciples in Matthew 28:20 that he would be “with you always, to the very end of the age.”
God’s vision for you doesn’t have to fade. Know in your heart that he is with you always and will bring people into your life as a support in fulfilling his vision.
