Good News

Each spring the majority of Americans receive an envelope in the mail that reads: “Congratulations! You May Have Won.” You open the envelope with anticipation only to find that you haven’t won anything. Wow, how disappointing. I like good news that really is good news. Don’t you?
Our world promises a lot, but delivers little. Promises, such as money brings happiness, success is popularity, and physical appearance matters. These hallow messages lead to feelings of hopelessness and despair when the truth is finally uncovered.
Paul was once a “blasphemer, persecutor, and violent man.” He denounced Christ and encouraged others to deny their faith, or face persecution. Yet, as far away from God as Paul was, God poured out his grace and offered him salvation through Christ. Paul was the worst of sinners; yet, God offered his best through his one and only Son.
Paul proclaimed: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. No matter how deep sin goes, God’s mercy and grace goes deeper.

The writer hit the nail on the head when he said, “These hallow messages lead to feelings of hopelessness and despair when the truth is finally uncovered.” However, many times the truth isn’t uncovered until it’s too late.
It is “good news” that “God is with us” and that we can have a relationship (through the power of the Holy Spirit in Jesus’ name) with Him, now, that leads us to eternity with HIM. God just gives us our heart’s desire!
It is “the world” that has made us those hallow (in lieu of hallowed) promises. God doesn’t lie.
PS – It is neat that the text gives the scripture references with just a click. I’ve never used scripture references. (Shame on me!) However, it’s sure easy with the way the program is set up.

Please forgive my placing quotation marks around something the writer did NOT say, “when the truth is uncovered”. I do make clerical errors that my proof-reading fails to catch.
I guess my mind just knows what I meant to say.

OOoooops! This is not my toy. (Maybe there’s a message in there somewhere that I can’t see).

“Paul proclaimed: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. No matter how deep sin goes, God’s mercy and grace goes deeper.” It is no wonder that it is called “amazing grace”.

Hey, Brian. . .
Thank you for coming in and reminding me of God’s mercy. Do you have any thoughts as to “Hymenaeust and Alexander” in verse 20 of the scripture text?
