Rejection to Rejoicing
June 25th, 2012
RG AUDIO 0625121 Samuel 8:1-9
It started in the Garden of Eden and people have been rejecting God ever since, trying to make life work on their own. Rejection means “refusing to take, use, believe, or consider.” It can happen when we decide relationships, jobs, or situations are “useless, worthless, unsuitable, unsatisfactory, or throwaways,” so says the dictionary.
Growing up, I received rejection from my father when he left, and unknowingly I learned to gather rejection as a habit. It caused me untold pain, became my core wound that I kept hidden for years. Only when I listened to God’s truth in a safe place did I find the grace to forgive and let go. Now I create a trusting place inside of me by surrendering to things I cannot change, finding the courage to change the things I can, and praying for wisdom to know the difference. These choices bring new freedoms.
