A Day of Rejoicing

There were times when it would have been hard to even remember what shouts of joy sounded like. The pain, the suffering, the abuse were too much. Many would have wondered if things would ever change, if there were any hope of escape. How refreshing it was when the day came for the Israelites to leave Egypt.
There are people today who feel that their lives are trapped in some situation with no way of escape. The song is gone from their heart. They’ve lost ambition. They’ve lost hope.
As God did for his people, he can do for you as well. Today is a new day. Today is a day of celebration. Just as the Israelites were released out of Egypt, and just as Christ was set free from the tomb, so also today may be the day when God does something in your life that will make you shout for joy.
As God’s people gather together for worship on the Lord’s Day, perhaps this will be the day when God will give you something to shout about. “This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it” (Ps. 118:24).
