Safe In The Storm

May 8th, 2012

John 6:16-24RG AUDIO 050812

If you haven’t been in a bad storm yet, please fasten your seatbelt. Storms can be unexpected and very severe. Dennis’ storm came on a foggy February morning. It was 8:20 AM on February 6, 1991, when Dennis discovered his 18-year-old son had died in his sleep. Their storm was unlike anything they had experienced before; the grief was overwhelming!

His pastor was at their side in minutes and continued to walk with them through their nightmare. Through the fog of his grief, Dennis can still remember his words when he said, “Now, you are going to experience the comfort and help that comes from our Lord in a way that perhaps you have never experienced before.” Now as Dennis look back across the many years since Denny’s death he can see the hand of our Lord, often working in ways that he could never have imagined.

So, if you find yourself in a bad storm today, and you cannot seem to make it to your destination, let go of the oars and look to the one who still says, “Don’t be afraid.”
