How do you approach a difficult task? With fear and trepidation or confidently facing the job? Do you procrastinate or jump right in to get it done? To be honest, I often leave the most challenging tasks to take on after I’ve completed the easier ones.
Joseph of Arimathea chose to take on a difficult challenge. “A prominent member of the Council, who was himself waiting for the kingdom of God, went boldly to Pilate and asked for Jesus’ body” (Mark 15:43). There was no hesitation in Joseph’s actions. Often the crucified bodies were left for the birds and animals to scavenge before they were placed in paupers’ graves. Why would Joseph take such a public stand? Joseph was waiting for the kingdom of God. He was a secret disciple who was now willing to let the public know that he was a follower of Jesus.
Are you bold in your stand for Jesus? Would the people around you know that you are a follower of his? Make today the day for you to stand up for your faith.
