It’s True!

I love to watch the crime solving shows on television. Those that investigate crime scenes and use scientific means to figure out who did it are so different from my life. However, when they depict the mangled body, I tend to look away. I like the story but not the reality.

John was one of Jesus’ closest friends. He was the only one of the twelve at the cross. He recognized the fulfillment of the prophetic words, “They will look on me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son” (Zech. 12:10b). John wanted to witness not only to the reality of the crucifixion but, more importantly, the deeper truth that “These things happened so that the scripture would be fulfilled” (John 19:36a).

Do you know this truth for yourself? Look closely at who Jesus is and trust him as the One who provided a way of salvation for the world, including you.
