Life is full of contrasts. Good results often require hard work. Getting fit does not come without exercise. Being financially secure usually demands a lot of time and effort. Good grades require study and concentration.
Contrasts are an important tool in studying the Bible. Isaiah 53 is full of contrasts describing Jesus’ work on the cross. Strong words such as “suffer, crushed, afflicted, and death” are contrasted with “prolonged days, prosper, satisfied.” Jesus’ sacrifice and death results in our salvation and bridging the gap caused by sin. The result of Jesus bearing our sin is that we can access the Father. Jesus continues to sit at God’s right hand, interceding for us. Not because of anything we have done, but as a result of his onetime sacrifice for each one of us.
Thank him for the work he has done so that you can be called a child of God.
