A Day To Remember!
April 1st, 2012
RG AUDIO 0401121 Corinthians 1:26—2:5
Palm Sunday morning we awakened in a little bamboo hut in the highlands of Papua New Guinea. The evening before, we had been welcomed by Pastor Yambe Sike and his lovely wife, Marta. They invited us to have dinner with them in their cookhouse, a large thatched structure with a friendly fire in the middle of the floor.
Pastor Yambe picked up his Bible and said that we would end the day with devotions. All of us gathered around the fire. Our host selected Galatians 3 for the reading. In the flickering light of the cookhouse fire, this consecrated pastor read, “You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, . . . There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus” (Gal. 3:26, 28). As I looked across the fading embers of the fire, I had a new realization that his “. . . righteousness, holiness and redemption” has forever spanned all cultures and times. This “wisdom from God” made it truly a Palm Sunday to remember!
