It was Easter Sunday morning and we were in Beijing, China. We told our guide, “It is Easter—we must attend Church.” In that communist nation, she had no idea where to find a church. After driving around and asking people on the street, we finally found a church. What an experience! It was standing room only as over 2,000 persons crowded into the building–even the foyer was jammed wall-to-wall with people. Considering that this atheistic country had just passed a law threatening immediate imprisonment for Christian witnessing, it was electrifying to hear the soloist sing, “Because He Lives, I Can Face Tomorrow.” We rejoiced as we sang “Christ Arose” and 40 people, mostly young persons, were baptized!
Our guide had never seen anything like it. She immediately began asking about what it meant to be a Christian. Before the sun set over Beijing that day, she had accepted Jesus as her Savior.
