Comfort is something all human beings strive to acquire. The first thing people do when they arrive home is kick off their shoes, get out of their uncomfortable work wear, and throw on the elastic-banded pants. This carries over to the choices we make. Some choose to take the easy road in life. We become uneasy when circumstances require us to get out of our “comfort zone.” We try to weasel out of a situation that is unfamiliar or unknown.
The woman in Mark 14 is going out of her way, sacrificing her dignity and reputation, to worship at the feet of Christ. She did not care what others thought of her. All she saw was the Beloved. She focused her attention and energy on worship. She was overflowing with love for her Savior and wanted to give something back.
When we kneel before the Lord, there is no reason to fear. It’s time to get uncomfortable, abandoning our insecurities, and assume a position of true humility and awe.
