Overcoming Fear with Hope

Fear is hard to overcome. Fears about the future, fears of the unknown, and fears of being alone all try to steal joy from followers of Christ. We hear fear on the news, and we feel fear in our hearts. Much of life seems out of control—out of our control anyway.
Paul says, “[F]or you know very well that the day of the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night” (1 Thess. 5:2). No one can determine exactly when this will be. In spite of this unknown, as Christ-followers, we have hope.
We have hope for the future because God has everything under control. We have hope of never being alone because Jesus Christ died and rose again.
Life does not depend upon what may or may not happen tomorrow. Life depends on Christ. He gives us the strength to live daily in expectant hope, rather than in fear of what is to come. Christ is our hope.
