An Ever-Present Mighty Savior

God has always been in the business of saving his people. As believers we ought to take immense comfort in the twin promises of today’s verse:

First, no matter what is going on around us, the Lord is in our presence. He is here. He is near. We are not alone. He stands in the middle of every circumstance life brings our way.

Second, the knowledge that he is mighty and that he will save is exquisitely comforting to all believers, especially the troubled and timid soul. The evil one looks for every opportunity to thwart and upset the faith of believers. But his efforts are in vain for the Lord of Hosts stands in the middle of his people, and he will save them from every threat.

Despite the myriad uncertainties plaguing our lives and our world today, we should always remember that we serve the God who created this universe and it remains under his sovereign control. God has never made a mistake. He has never been surprised. He has never been taken unawares. Nothing has ever dawned on him. He is the One on whom we have banked our eternities and he will not let us down.
