Life Never Ends!
July 7th, 2011
John 11:17-27
Dwight L. Moody, the great 19th-century evangelist, was speaking about his own death. He said, “Someday you will read in the papers that Moody is dead. Don’t believe it! At that moment I will be more alive than the men who carry my body to the grave.”
For many persons, death is their greatest fear. They see it as the end of everything or as a journey into the unknown. How does someone really live with the confidence of a man like Dwight Moody? He believed in Christ. He belonged to Christ. Jesus had kept other promises in Moody’s life. He had no reason to doubt what Jesus said about life after death.
Jesus said he was the resurrection and the life. He proved those words when he came out of the tomb. Speaking to Martha Jesus said, “‘He who believes in me will live, even though he dies’” (John 11:25b). Then he asked Martha if she believed what he was saying. “‘Yes, Lord,’ she told him, ‘I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who was to come into the world’” (v. 27).
