The Sabbath Life
May 1st, 2011
Isaiah 56:1-8
Second Peter chapter 1 is an amazing mathematical equation. It says that if we increasingly add to our “faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love,” we will be effective and productive. This is what God wants.
God commands us to “remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy” (Exod. 20:8). Isaiah instructs us to call the Sabbath a “delight” (58:13) and make it honorable. We are to do what pleases the Lord; then we will find joy. Isn’t that the kind of relationship God wants with us every day? Yes! Let’s live “the Sabbath life.”
