Luke 1:39-56

God is relentless in our redemption. Only a God of holy love would persist in the face of such obstinate rebellion. The prophet Hosea pictured God as a jilted husband, abandoned by an unfaithful and immoral wife. “I will betroth you to me forever; I will betroth you in righteousness and justice, in love and compassion. I will betroth you in faithfulness, and you will acknowledge the LORD” (2:19-20). God is not backing down.

Mary glorified God her Savior. If the Lord could use a humble and ordinary person such as herself, then nothing could stand in the way.

Mary rejoiced in this stubborn love. God’s mercy still extends “to those who fear him, from generation to generation.” God exalts those who are truly humble, who respond with obedience to his Word, and come before him with respectful awe (fear).

May our souls glorify the Lord, may our spirits rejoice in God our Savior. Hallelujah! He is still with his humble servants.
