Family Resemblance

Genesis 1:26-31
We were looking at some old church photos. One was of a group of boys mugging for the camera. Some began to identify the boys, now men, in the picture. Two boys stood together. They looked almost like twins.
“Who are they?” I asked.
“I don’t know for sure,” someone answered, “but they are Taylors. The Taylors all look the same.”
God created our first parents in His image with His likeness. This could not have been a physical resemblance. Jesus said, “God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.” The image we bear is not physical, but moral. Though marred by sin, God’s image within us can be restored in Christ.
“Jesus is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.”
As children of our Heavenly Father, we faithfully display His image through the daily transformation of our lives by His abiding Spirit.
