For a nation of people, the title “whose God is the LORD” implies a double responsibility or more. First, there are the blessings and joys that come with the title. Then, there is the accountability of living and acting like a “people of God.” Implied here is the need to treat our neighbors with compassion. We are to live responsibly. Even paying our taxes, as Jesus implied when He said, “Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s”.

To be known as a “God-fearing people” has always been an uplifting and inspiring compliment, but it carries the weight of living and acting in accordance with the title.

This is made possible daily by the indwelling of His Holy Spirit. It is He who empowers and activates the best in our lives. As children, we sang, “I want to live right, that God may use me at anytime or anywhere.” By living this way, we will become a “people whose God is the LORD.”
