Slow To Anger
July 25th, 2010
“Slow to Anger” should be a street sign on Houston Street several blocks from the church. On this major street in downtown Manhattan, they have, “Men at Work,” “Yield to Pedestrians,” and “Detour” signs. The sign we probably need the most is conspicuously absent. There are no “Slow to Anger” signs. Regrettably, our Christian discipleship road is often missing some of these most important signs.
When Joy became a parent, she learned more about yielding. As a teenager, she remember being incredibly intolerant of her younger cousins. She’d pounce on them for any perception of mischief. Now with a toddler and a newborn, she is relearning the meaning of “slow to anger and abounding in love.” God’s patience with all of humanity should cause us to yield until the road is done.
