Colossians 1:22-29

Few artists would ever hide the fruit of their creativity from the eyes of the public, storing it in a closet or covering it with a thick black canvas. Art is meant to be shared, put on full display. Art is the evidence of the brilliance and beauty of its creator.

According to Genesis, God’s brilliance and beauty as an artist is demonstrated through creation and in humanity. Though tarnished, corrupted, and weathered by sin and rebellion, God never gives up on His intended beauty. God was not content to separate himself from His work. God reclaims His work, rescuing and reconciling us to Himself.

However, redemption doesn’t stop at the point of our personal salvation. God reconciles and restores the work of His hands so that those redeemed are put on full display for all to see, as the apostle Paul states, “to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation” (v. 22b). We become the evidence of the brilliance and beauty of the Creator.
