1 Peter 1:13-23

Again we hear the words: Stand firm in your faith. To stand firm means to “come to a final decision” or to place your hope on the grace to come when Jesus Christ is revealed. This is the grace that allows us to stand confidently in His presence. It is grace for our past, present, and future.

It is possible to live grounded in holiness and hope because of the power of resurrection. Paul gives several components to standing firm in faith and hope: prepare for action, be balanced in judgment, remember everyone will be judged by the same standard, have genuine love for one another, be obedient to God’s word, be holy in our conduct. The believer’s faith and hope are grounded in the resurrection of Christ.

Those who believe are not disappointed by hope and the gospel, both of which find their foundation in the resurrection (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). In the community of faith, we must love one another fervently (sincerely), no pretense, no backstabbing. Live in unity. We are to live in the grace and power of resurrection.
