The Great Teacher

Matthew 13:1-12
Matthew 13 clearly presents Jesus as the Great Teacher.
As I was preparing to be a teacher, one of my favorite professors, Dr. Sara Spruce, told the class something I will always remember: “They don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care.” As a teacher, I am constantly looking to present ideas in relevant ways. In order to accomplish this I first must build relationships and get to know each individual student.
This was exactly what Jesus was doing in Matthew 13. He has taken the time to get to know the people and He knows exactly what they are familiar with and can relate to. Jesus taught in parables that could only be fully understood when the learner was in personal relationship with the Parable Giver.
As we seek the heart of God relationally, desiring to know Him as our personal Savior, the truth of His teaching comes to life. It produces the fruit of the Spirit in us and allows us to live life to the fullest both here and forevermore.
