Joshua 8:30-35

Do you ever forget things? Your keys? Your password? Your phone number? It seems like I am always forgetting something important. God knows that we are forgetful people. Within the scriptures there is the regular encouragement for us to remember what is most important.

In Joshua 8, we are reminded that Moses commanded Joshua to build an altar to remember the blessings of God. God knew that people tend to forget. Joshua did what Moses instructed, built an altar, followed it by writing down the law on tablets, and then reading the scriptures. Joshua and the people of God remembered that day.

Moses told Joshua to remember the source of their blessings because they might forget that God blessed them to be a blessing to others. We also need to be reminded. God has blessed us to be a blessing to others. Worshipping God through the reading of scriptures reminds us of the source of our blessings.

May we never forget that God has blessed us to be a blessing to others. May we always remember.
