Psalm 23:1-6

What a phenomenal and foundational truth we find in Psalm 23. God is our shepherd—we lack nothing. Yet, despite this colossal good news, how easy is it to forget this or be swayed by another way of thinking?

We have a binary choice to make in life. It’s an overarching choice that shapes the whole trajectory of the way we live. We can see one of two ways: there isn’t enough to go around or there’s more than enough for everyone. We can live in a world of scarcity or a world of God’s plenty. As sheep of God’s fold, as citizens of God’s kingdom in Jesus, we can be assured that God leads, God guides, and God provides.

The apostle Paul says to the Colossians that we are transferred into the kingdom of God’s beloved Son (1:13). In God’s kingdom, there is plenty to go around. The psalmist says that God owns the cattle on a thousand hills (Psalm 50:10b). Because of God’s care, we lack nothing!
