Romans 8:1-7

The word condemnation brings to mind the woman who bought a condemned home for a dollar. It was rotting and unsafe. She put in the hard work of restoring it. She strengthened its foundations, refinished its floors, fixed its plumbing, and brought it back to life. The house gained a new owner and identity. The house went from abandoned to livable, worthless to valuable, all because of what had been done to it.

This is the work God does in us. We are changed and transformed. We are restored and moved from death to life. This doesn’t mean we won’t still need work along the way. There will be updates needed, things can still be broken and need to be replaced, but we no longer need to wear the condemned label. We have been set free from the decay of sitting empty as the Spirit moves in and dwells in us.

Today focus on the ways God has changed you. Reflect on your identity. Be slow to condemn yourself. Be thankful for the work God continues to do in you. Be free in the good news of Jesus.
