Expect It!

Ezra 4:1-5

I love basketball. I play with a co-ed group on Monday nights at our church gym. During a game I deflected the ball from the opposing team and the player swore at me. She didn’t mean to do it. In fact, she apologized right away.

In basketball, opposition is expected. The opposing team will do everything they can to stop the other team. In the same way, opposition is a part of life, especially when you are doing great things.

For the Israelites, it didn’t take long before someone opposed the building of God’s temple. However, they were aware that this project was from God. The opposition did everything to try to stop them, to a point where construction slowed and even came to a halt. The Israelites, however, knew that God was on their side. Despite the opposition, they pushed forward and overcame the challenges. Eventually God’s temple was completed.

Don’t give up just because there is opposition. Expect it. Perhaps it’s confirmation that you’re on the right track. Remember, God is with us and that always makes the difference.
