God Provides Through Others

Luke 10:1-7
When Jennifer and her husband were in their first pastoral assignment one of the larger churches on theirr district “adopted” them for Christmas. This was a wonderful time of God blessing them and supplying their needs through other people. This larger congregation took them in and supplied them with all kinds of things they both needed and very much enjoyed. They even thought of their cat Simon.
When Jesus sent out the seventy-two to go ahead of Him, He told them to not take anything with them. They were to rely entirely upon others in their endeavors. These followers were to trust that God will supply all that they needed through the people they encountered during their travels. What a daily challenge that would have been to trust in God’s provision.
Thankfully God does not call many of us to that today! However, maybe we ought to be more open to it. Maybe we ought to allow ourselves to receive from others, and to trust that God will bring us what we need at the right moment.
