God’s People

Galatians 3:15-29

Jesus, the Messiah, brought with him a strange new covenant. By declaring that he was the fulfillment of the law, he necessarily shined a light on the things people were sure about but had gotten wrong. Jesus establishes His supremacy in not only seeing what the law looks like but also in understanding who God the Father is when understood properly. For Christians, then, if we want to truly understand who God is and what God desires of us, Jesus must be the lens through which we look.

It is so tempting at times to try to make Jesus fit into our own understanding of God. Jesus however, makes clear that He and He alone is the one who perfectly shows God’s way. It is through Jesus, and only through Jesus, that we can understand what it really means to be God’s people. That means that when the “rub” comes between what Jesus has shown us and continuing to believe that we had it “right,” we must err on the side of our Savior.
