1 Peter 1:13-25
It is difficult to fathom the miracle of being forgiven of all sins we have ever committed–forgiven and cleansed. However, this phenomenon is only possible because of a still greater miracle, the incarnation of God himself in the person of His Son Jesus Christ. His death and resurrection were the sacrifice of love for us! No wonder He urges us not go back to the same patterns we once had.
What is most encouraging is that God is the One who empowers us to live in obedience to Him. By His Spirit, He gives us the strength to not conform to the pressures that might separate us from Him. One of the first verses I learned at the beginning of my Christian life was 1 Corinthians 10:13: “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.”
God is faithful.
