[Jesus] said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation” (Mark 16:15).
Jesus prayed for His disciples and His followers of future generations. He made clear that believers belong to Him and His Father. Jesus knew the time of His sacrificial death was near. He knew His disciples would suffer trials, and He prayed that they would remain in the world. He asked the Father to keep them from evil and to sanctify them by His Word.
As followers of Christ, we live holy lives separated from the world, set apart for His service. As the Father sent Jesus, He is sending us.
We answer the call daily wherever we go: to work, to school–anywhere. We will suffer because we do not live as the world lives. Jesus broke the power of sin so that we can live holy lives, victoriously, in spite of persecution. We can always call on His mighty name!
