God Plays For Keeps

2 Peter 2:12-22
God is infuriated by moral decay—greed, exploitation, sexual perversion, hatred, abuse, idolatry. The day is coming when God will unleash His ferocious wrath on the world for its unspeakable acts. “For a long time I have kept silent, I have been quiet and held myself back. But now, like a woman in childbirth, I cry out, I gasp and pant” (Isaiah 42:14). What heated emotion to compare his righteous fury with the intensity of childbirth!
God is a mighty warrior of justice, but He also cares deeply for people and wants no one to perish. He especially longs to protect children from those who would do them harm and lure them into sin. “If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea” (Matthew 18:6).
Therefore, strive to live a life that pleases God. He loves you, and protects the hearts and minds of others around you who may be weaker.
