There Is Power in Submission

Romans 13:1-14

God uses even the ungodly to bring His will to pass. Little did Judas, Herod, the chief priests and the Roman soldiers know that they were working out God’s plan even while they betrayed and convicted Jesus? Nailing him to the cross, they guaranteed our salvation. Who would have guessed this was God’s plan? How could God bring beauty from this atrocity?

Jesus, who had done no wrong, received the punishment for every wrong that every human has committed. Those who put him to death witnessed the ultimate display of submission. Do you see the economy of Christ? Submission can yield more power than power itself. It’s baffling to those with a worldly view. Gandhi and Mother Teresa are modern-day examples of how powerful it is to simply submit.

Are you facing a challenge that seems ugly and insurmountable? Do you feel you have no voice, no authority to speak on your own behalf?

God’s word applies: “Love is the fulfillment of the law” (Romans 13:10b), “Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ” (Ephesians 5:21).

Thank you for the blessing of encouragement to submit to the God and His Word.
I believe, however, we have many other examples in the Bible and people like Phineas Bresee, Corie Ten Boon, Hellen Keller, Jonathan Edwards, Elizabeth Elliot, DL Moody, ML King Jr., Nazarene past and present leaders, Nazarene missionaries, C.H. S Purgeon, Billy Gharam, General Booth, John Bunya, George Muller, the Wesleys, and many others, that we don’t have to use non-Christians and people from other faiths as positive examples. It may send the wrong message, the message or idea of the Character of God and His salvation in Jesus. Keep encouraging us to persevere in the faith. Thank you.
