Hebrews 9:11-28

Recently someone in our church received a severe electric shock at work and was unconscious. His wife was waiting at the emergency room for the ambulance to arrive. My husband and I rushed over to be with her. She didn’t know the details. She just knew her husband was hurt–she feared it would be severe. We waited. We tried to talk about other things to distract ourselves. We prayed. We cried. We waited. It’s never easy to wait. Thankfully, miraculously, this man was okay. The doctors can’t figure out why he is alive, but he is.

We wait for the good and we wait for the bad in this life. We can’t predict what will happen. We can try to make the right decisions, but mostly we just have to wait. As we wait for Jesus’ return, we can be mindful that we can wait with excited expectancy. As we wait, we can grow to be more like Him. As we wait, we can show others what it means to follow Him. As we wait, we have assurance that when He comes He will bring the fulfillment of our salvation. That is something worth waiting for.
