Matthew 13:1-17

Printed on the back cover of his book, All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten, Robert Fulghum offers a simple list of rules that have to do with behaviors, such as sticking together, sharing, and playing fair. While some of Fulghum’s rules are purely for fun, the list is cleverly written and a delight to read.

A book with a more familiar title, Holy Bible, has been in print much longer. While Fulghum’s suggestions are good and are biblically sound, the Bible contains all anyone will ever need to know in order to live a holy life.

Far too many, however, do not wish to see or hear what God has to say. Some who see clap their hands over their spiritual eyes or stick fingers in their spiritual ears to avoid seeing and hearing God’s Word. This was true during Old Testament times and for the three short years Jesus ministered on earth. It is still true today.

Yet, all we ever need to know is that Jesus loves us, died and rose again for us, and is one day coming again for all who will open both eyes and ears and surrender to Him.
