Ephesians 6:10-23

One of my favorite Bible stories is found in 2 Chronicles 20. It is the account of how God used King Jehosaphat’s faith and obedience to deliver Judah from a vast army. The king called the nation together and challenged them to pray and fast. He stood in the temple courtyard and prayed a powerful prayer. He acknowledged their powerlessness and lack of knowledge but closed his prayer with, “. . . our eyes are on you” (v. 12).

God’s Spirit fell and he assured them, “Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s” (v. 15). Responding to this promise, King Jehoshaphat and the people bowed down and worshiped the Lord. The Levites began singing and praising the Lord. The next morning the king commissioned the Levites to lead the way, singing and praising the Lord as they faced the enemy. And God set ambushes, totally defeating the enemy!

If we faithfully follow God’s instructions when trials, tests, and temptations come, he will enable us to stand firm as he fights our battles for us.
