Are You Thirsty Again?

RG AUDIO 011612Psalm 42:1-11

In Psalm 42, the psalmist is giving us a simile of those desiring God. A deer would easily be drawn to water after a long day in the wild. And so a follower of God finds that a thirst for spiritual things can only be satisfied in an encounter with the Divine.

In verse 3 others ask this writer a penetrating question, “Where is your God?” He encourages himself by reflecting on past experiences in the “house of God” (v. 4b). In verse 5 he speaks to himself saying that he will find hope in God. He knows that God has spoken to him in the past and God will communicate with him again.

Have you ever wondered, “Where is God, in my situation?” One of the best things to do is remember how God has demonstrated himself faithful to you in the past.

It’s an amazing fact, but the more we drink from the streams of God the thirstier we become for more. Are you thirsty?
